l Part I : The hidden secrets – Basics of Communication

Ø Can I NOT communicate? – Scenes from daily work and life remind participants that communication is ubiquitous. It is an indispensable skill in life and can tremendously help your career development and personal life.

Ø It seems easy but complicated – Shannon communication model underlines even the simplest communication. Understanding this model is an important step in improving communication effectiveness.

Ø Who is your focus? – In communication, should I focus on myself or the audience? In many cases, the initiator of the communication is concerned only with what they have to express and how to deliver, while ignoring the other significant half of the communication model. It is time to think about what benefits am I bringing to the audience?

Ø Three levels of Communication effectiveness. The first level is the easiest and the third level is the most difficult. In this journey, we are all progressive practitioners from level 1 to level 3.

l Part II:Ruler in hand –evaluation criteria

Ø What is “Good”? – To improve your business presentation skills, you need to first understand “what is good”. The evaluation criteria could range from content, structure to delivery. To the presenter, however, the most important evaluation measure is to see what impact it has on the audience.

Ø Stay away from the “highflier” – How to deliver an effective presentation? The effectiveness can only be achieved if the goals are met. The goals must be clear and specific, which is often overlooked by many presenters.

Ø The audience is God – this is the truth in the world of business presentation. Audience is the only judge to verify whether your presentation is effective or not. It is worthwhile the effort to understand your audience

l Part III: The choice of Content

Ø You have a business presentation coming soon, but sometimes you feel like you have nothing to say. The course will give you direction and ideas on where to look for materials

Ø After working on your presentation for a while, you seem to have collected a lot of data and graphs, but you won’t be able to talk them through within the time limits you have. What do you do? What to cut?

Ø Citing data shows a rigorous attitude, but in a business presentation, there is a lot more work to do than simply piling up the data onto your PPT.

Ø Stories are the most effective – Used wisely, telling stories works best in business presentation. You need to know what kind of stories will help and how to collect them.

l Part IV: Structure is not optional – Structure design

Ø Aristotle’s discovery - a simple and effective structure for public speaking, was discovered over 2000 years ago in ancient Greek, and is still in use today.

Ø Various structure for various purpose – introduce a few enduring logical structure classics that can improve the effectiveness of your business presentation

Ø You can build your own model – research models developed by large consulting firms can help build the structure of your presentation. You can use these, or build your own model to bring something refreshing to your audience.

Ø A good beginning is half the battle won – “Hello everyone, I am so and so. Today I will introduce my project…” Such opening is not wrong, but how can we better engage our audience?

Ø Wave goodbye – the presentation is about to end. How to use the last few minutes on stage to deliver an effective closing? When you wave goodbye, don’t forget to remind them of taking the things you want them to take away.

l Part V: It’s not just a PPT – Visual Aid

Ø PPT has become synonymous with business presentation. This is wrong. You need to come out of the misunderstanding and know that PPT is just a visual aid and avoid the common problems in using it.

Ø What else can I present other than the PPT? PPT is not the only visual aid. There are many other options that can be used to make your presentation more effective.

l Part VI: Body language helps

Ø In business presentation, your voice, eye contact, hand gestures and posture can all have huge impact on your delivery and outcome.

l Closing: Entering the next level

Ø Review the two-day course and put them into practice to bring your next business presentation to a new level.
